The Laphroaig 1990 initial nose is fresh, with laundry and lavender, until vanilla and smoke emerge. The reduced nose has geranium leaf, figs and sea air. Smoke dominates the taste, yet it is rewarding and mature, with maple-cured bacon, spicy wood, caramel, brambles and a salty tang.
