Description
1980s Official Bottling. Opened in 1966 and production started in 1969, 3 years after production, Invergordon purchased the distillery. This bottling was most likely released in the early 1980s as the distillery fell slilent from 1982 – 1990 10 years after Invergordon distillers purchased the distillery. First Deanston Single Malt was released in 1974, however most of the whisky produced at Deanston back then was mainly for blenders, this is rarely seen as a single malt back in the days. With its large capacity, i would guess this is mostly for base of blends. In Invergordon era, Deanston had conformed to a modern style of production, making a light dry ‘nutty-spicy’ make. Nowadays, it is switched back to open-topped mash tun, low gravity worts, long fermentation, slow distillation that making it a waxy new make.
